Latest models of wind turbines installed in England
Published on 10.20.2017
In autumn 2017, five of the most powerful wind turbines in the world with a capacity of more than 8 megawatts were installed off the coast of Blyth, near Newcastle in the United Kingdom. Designed by French electric utility EDF, the turbines stand on innovative “gravity-based foundations”, which are transported using the “float and submerge” method and ballasted with sand. The turbines are then fitted onto the foundations by a jack-up vessel. The wind farm is also the first to feature buried 66 kilovolt submarine cables, which offer outstanding efficiency.
