Pumped-Storage Power Plants
Pumped-storage power plants store electrical energy using a system of two reservoirs.
Storage phase
Water in the lower reservoir is pumped into the upper reservoir using electrical energy during offpeak times.
The water stored in the upper reservoir is an energy reserve.
Release phase
At times of high consumption, the water in the upper reservoir is released through a turbine to drive a generator and produce electrical energy.
