Global oil consumption surpassed the symbolic milestone of 100 million barrels per day in 2023 and rose slightly in 2024. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) expects further increases in 2025 and 2026. The forecasts a slight decline in 2030. Asia is the world's largest consumer, accounting for nearly half of total consumption. It is followed by the United States and Europe.
